Post natal Pilates Classes in Shepherds Bush

After birth, many women want to return to gentle exercise as soon as possible to recover fitness. However the demands of baby-care, breastfeeding, fatigue and a weakened abdominal area can make finding a suitable and safe form of regular exercise a challenge.

Post natal Pilates is an ideal option for encouraging your body’s return to good physical shape. Maybe even into better shape than BB (before baby!).

Pilates after birth re-conditions your body’s muscle tone, strength, breathing and postural alignment. The controlled, progressive movements of post natal Pilates ensures a gentle yet effective workout to stimulate restoration of your muscular and postural health. A regular workout also helps you feel calmer and more in control.

When’s a good time?

Women can generally return to Pilates four to six weeks after delivery, or eight to twelve weeks after a Caesarean section. Seek your doctor’s advice about your body’s readiness for exercise, if you’re unsure of when to take up Pilates classes. Listen to your body and let your instructor be aware of your personal needs at the start of each class.

Classes are suitable for anyone including complete beginners.

It can be useful to take some time out each week from 24/7 baby care to focus on your own physical health regime, de-stress, take time for relaxation and to meet other new mums. Get stronger and feel more supported. Come along to weekly Post Natal Pilates or Mother & Baby Yoga classes to give attention to your own self-care, for the ultimate benefit of yourself and your family.

How can Post natal Pilates benefit you?

There may have been times during your pregnancy when you were astonished that your body could stretch so much! If only your body would miraculously re-shape to your figure so easily!

Pilates helps your body regain shape and tone after pregnancy. Abdominal and pelvic floor exercises in post natal Pilates help re-strengthen muscles that have been weakened during pregnancy.

A difficult birth or caesarean section can make it even more important to begin with very gentle, specific movements that reawaken your core abdominal muscles and build internal core strength. An emphasis on core and abdominal strength helps prepare your body for exercises such as side stretches and sit-ups.

Post natal Pilates exercises gives your body the encouragement it needs to stimulate muscles, shift excess pregnancy weight, improve circulation and promote feel-good hormones such as endorphins.

With post natal Pilates, you can increase your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Restore your post-baby body from the inside, out.
