Therapy Information

When the body is in health, it is at ease. When the systems of the body are compromised it becomes unhealthy and enters a state of 'dis-ease'. The body’s systems are designed to function as a balanced whole, a state known as Homeostasis, in which each of the systems harmonise via a process of positive and negative feedback.

When the body becomes under-resourced through: trauma, injury, stress or poor nutrition, or for any other reason, this balance is lost and it is then in a state of dis-ease.

In essence our environment and lifestyles have evolved too rapidly for our bodies to keep pace. We are still genetically “wired” to thrive on the entrenched habits of our ancestors, who consumed different, nutrient rich foods and sustained greater levels of movement and exercise.

The body can cope, but it needs to be in balance and in order for it to re-establish the natural balance required for optimum health it needs support and understanding and this is what Craniosacral Therapy provides.

Additional Information

What happens in a treatment?

Most people who experience Craniosacral therapy will tell you that it is extremely pleasant. Many would say it is blissful.

Before you start, your therapist will take a case history and ask you questions about specific ailments which are bothering you. You will then be asked to lie down, fully clothed, with your shoes off. Your therapist will then start the therapy by touching you very lightly on different parts of the body.

A typical session lasts for between 45 and 60 minutes.

Craniosacral therapy is different for everyone. You may feel heat, tingling, gentle pulsing, a feeling of increased gravity or a sense of profound meditation and relaxation.
