Lorraine LukeExpertise: Western Herbal Medicine Her three year training covered pharmaceutical as well as plant medicines and included the same diagnostic skills as practiced by conventional doctors. Lorraine believes it is necessary to identify and treat the underlying causes of disease, rather than focusing purely on alleviating the symptoms. A FREE preliminary 15 minute consultation is on offer by appointment, either by telephone or in person, providing an opportunity to explore whether herbal medicine is appropriate for your condition. Therapy InformationWestern Herbal Medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine and the forefather of conventional medicine. It is a plant based natural product using the whole plant, thereby offering greater effectiveness and a gentler approach, as it represents the perfect balance of healing through a natural combination of elements. Plants indigenous to the British Isles and Europe are used, although some plants from Indian and Chinese are used. Modern Western Herbal medicine practitioners are trained to combine traditional and conventional diagnostic and treatment principles, but steer away from the approach that ‘one size fits all’. The individual is treated as a whole person, taking into account symptoms, physiology and constitutional type. This approach offers long term effective results in helping the body to correct imbalances and restore harmony. The effectiveness of herbal medicine is continuously being backed up by a growing body of medical research, much of which is recognised by conventional medicine.
