Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a very gentle, powerful, hands on form of treatment whose non-invasive presence encourages the body back to stillness where healing can take place.

CST is about listening to the body’s intrinsic rhythms, pulsations, patterns of congestion and resistance through the medium of touch. Through this deep listening the therapist encourages a revitalization of the system and assists the release of resistances in the tissues and fluids of the body.

The intention of Craniosacral treatment is to stimulate and enhance the body’s own self healing and self regulating mechanisms.

At the core of the CST are the membranes and cereospinal fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord.

Palpation of these membranes, and subtle observation of the essential rhythms of the cerebrospinal fluid allows the release of many restrictions in the body.

Every cell in the body expresses subtle rhythms, which are essential for the continuance of health, producing a harmony of body and mind.

Is CST suitable for everyone?

Craniosacral therapy is suitable for everyone from the youngest child to the oldest man or woman.

What happens in a treatment?

Most people who experience Craniosacral therapy will tell you that it is extremely pleasant. Many would say it is blissful.

Before you start, your therapist will take a case history and ask you questions about specific ailments which are bothering you. You will then be asked to lie down, fully clothed, with your shoes off. Your therapist will then start the therapy by touching you very lightly on different parts of the body.

A typical session lasts for between 45 and 60 minutes.

Craniosacral therapy is different for everyone. You may feel heat, tingling, gentle pulsing, a feeling of increased gravity or a sense of profound meditation and relaxation.
